For me personally 2023 was a year in which I struggled with my health. And in that sense it is good that the year ends soon and a new year begins.

I’ve been inspired this year by music. One of the highlights of the year was a concert of Steve Hackett.

In the concert I especially enjoyed the music which he made with Genesis, my all time favorite band. Last year my wife and I went to a Genesis concert.

Since it seems it will be their last concert and I was fortunate to be at one of their concerts in 1978, it was for me the end of an Era.

A poem that also inspires me is by Mevlana Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks.

Don’t worry about saving these songs!

And if one of our instruments breaks,
it doesn’t matter.

We have fallen into the place
where everything is music.

The strumming and the flute notes
rise into the atmosphere,
and even if the whole world’s harp
should burn up, there will still be
hidden instruments playing.

So the candle flickers and goes out.
We have a piece of flint, and a spark.

This singing art is sea foam.
The graceful movements come from a pearl,
somewhere on the ocean floor.
Poems reach up like spindrift and the edge
of driftwood along the beach, wanting!

They derive
from a slow and powerful root
that we can’t see.

Stop the words now.
Open the window in the center of your chest,
and let the spirit fly in and out.

21. Dezember längste Nacht des Jahres

Der 21. Dezember ist nach alten türkischen Traditionen das Fest des NARDUGAN

Nardugan ist aus dem mongolischen Wort Nar (Sonne) und dem türkischen Wort Tuqan (Dogan) zusammengesetzt. Die Tataren nennen diesen Feiertag Koyash Tuga, den Tag der aufgehenden Sonne. Das Himmelskonzept und einige Bäume gehören zu den alten Glaubensvorstellungen, die für die Türken als heilig gelten und bei den Nardugan-Feierlichkeiten eine wichtige Bedeutung haben.

Der Nardugan-Tag gilt als ein Tag, an dem gemeinsam besondere und kostbare Mahlzeiten aufgetischt werden.

Vor allem wird Granatapfel gegessen und die Körner werden geteilt. Granatapfelkerne symbolisieren Fruchtbarkeit, Wohlstand und Familienzusammengehörigkeit.

Das Nardugan-Fest wird jedes Jahr am 21. Dezember besonders in Bodrum Gündoğan von den Einheimischen in festlicher Atmosphäre gefeiert.
